About Hogan Family in Australia
This website is about the family and descendants of Patrick Hogan and Susan O'Brien (Hogan). They were a young emigrant couple from County Clare, Ireland, who made their way to Australia in 1854. They arrived in Portland, Victoria in March 1854 aboard the Hooghly. From there they made their way to Geelong. In June 1854 a son, Thomas Francis was born. Sadly Susan died either giving birth, or not long after. By 1857 Patrick had settled in Warrenheip, close to Ballarat, and had married again, to Bridget O'Donohue, and together they had a large family.

Patrick Hogan's first child, Thomas, moved to country near Kerang, Victoria in 1878 where he took up farming. In 1883 he married Elizabeth Sach. This union produced 8 children. Many of their descendants are listed here. This site has been created by a descendant of Thomas Hogan. Consequently the site contains more information about this branch of the family. If more information comes to hand about the family and descendants of Patrick and Bridget Hogan (O'Donohue) this will be included.
